Face-to-Face Sessions

All of our sessions are 1:1, which means that you or your child are receiving our therapist’s undivided attention. We provide support 5 days per week - Monday to Friday from our clinic space near Linlithgow. Adult home visits are mainly undertaken on Mondays but we try to be as flexible and accommodating as we can.

For children: parents are invited and encouraged to be an active part of the therapy session. This ensures that parents become more skilled in handling and assisting their child to move in the best possible ways, and can continue practising on their own. Empowering parents to feel in control and knowledgeable about their child’s condition and needs is paramount to us at Movement Physiotherapy. We also work with children in school or nursery - helping to up-skill other members of their teams.

For adults: we warmly invite any friends, relatives and/or carers to be part of the therapy sessions. If an individual relies on the assistance of another to help with their therapy, having that person there to learn directly is by far the most effective way of achieving this.

Remote Video Sessions - Movement Videotherapy!

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, we launched a remote therapy service - Movement Videotherapy! This proved very popular and hugely effective with our families. With geography no longer a barrier, individuals from across the UK and further afield, can now benefit from the highly specialised physiotherapy input which we offer.

Remote therapy allows complete freedom of access, and currently includes:

  • Live video sessions in a 1:1 capacity

  • Provision of pre-recorded, bespoke physiotherapy programmes

  • Assessment and consultation sessions via direct video link

  • Analysis of video footage received from individuals

  • Provision of written home-therapy programmes in support of video sessions

We are fortunate to have close links with several other private practitioners, including:

  1. Physiotherapists providing specialist input in Hippotherapy/Therapeutic Riding as well as musculoskeletal disorders

  2. Speech and Language Therapists

  3. Occupational Therapists

  4. Orthotists

Joint sessions can be arranged as appropriate. Sessions are pre-planned to ensure that you/your child gets the optimal benefit from working with different clinical professionals.

Group Therapy Sessions

Over the school holidays, we occasionally run small group sessions to allow children of similar abilities to work together and learn from each other.

Group sessions can be incredibly beneficial, not only from a physical perspective, but also through the emotional and peer support which the children receive.  It's also a great way for parents to meet up and build new friendships with other people who just get it!

Group sessions are usually 3 or 4 days in duration and take place in West Lothian.  If there is interest from a group of parents in other areas, this can be considered.

Payments can be made using BACS, or cheques. Fees can be paid immediately after each session or invoiced afterwards.

We ask for a deposit in advance for our intensive therapy blocks.

We are happy to accept payment from charitable organisations as well as private health care providers. We already have links with several insurance companies (costs may be variable and are available on request).

We are happy to help signpost families to local organisations who may be able to help with funding for therapy sessions or equipment and have good links with several local charities.

Our charges vary depending on several factors including:

  • where you live
